The natural iron content in the raw material gives these glass chunks their turquoise to turquoise-blue shimmering colour. Today's demand for this glass material can only be met by new production.
Glass chunks in the glass colour crystal are low in iron oxides if they have no colour cast. Depending on the valency of the iron ions, the finished product receives a blue-green to yellow-green glass colouring if the proportion of these ions is higher. With crystal glasses, this colour cast is undesirable.
During the production process, coloured glass chunks receive chemical additives which are decisive for the later glass colours. These products made of genuine coloured glass are not economically undesirable waste products, but decorative glass chunks specially produced for their intended use. This is the reason for the considerable additional price of these pretty glass blocks.
